Community Success with The Way to Happiness Book
Drugs, crime and violence only thrive in a culture that has lost clear concepts of right and wrong.
What frequently gets overlooked in the "battle against crime" is that increases in crime statistics are almost universally preceded by a widespread moral decay in society. History teaches us that high crime levels can be reduced, not with increased law enforcement, but by restoring moral values to the society. Read the successes of how many community groups are using The Way to Happiness book and materials to improve the quality of life for the people they touch and for their communities.
"I am writing this letter in reference to one of the greatest self-esteem and self-help books I have come across in quite a while The Way to Happiness. As a police officer, many situations that I see along with other officers are often sad ones. So many people seem to be unable to pull within themselves to find good. The Way to Happiness book encourages people to search for the goodness within themselves and spread that goodness to others."
Your book The Way to Happiness is the most perfectly timed and needed set of writings that has ever been written down. The timing could not have been more perfect. Being in a line of work where these values are greatly needed and needing to be passed along, your book has been a welcome insight.

The Way to Happiness booklet has the true ingredients for this. It provides moral support, common sense, the real basic things these children need to know to avoid trouble and it is not so lengthy that they can't get through it.
The mother I gave the booklet to told me it helped her to phrase what she had always wanted to tell her children but couldn't find the words for. She said, "This booklet refreshes the things I have always known. Things I felt I myself or someone ought to write a book on so our children could know them. That won't be necessary now that we have The Way to Happiness booklets.
Everyone we give booklets to expresses their appreciation. Teachers, parents, clergy and the citizens here have all wanted extra copies for their friends so they have joined us in efforts to get the booklet into the hands of every parent in the area. We already have requests for over 25,000 copies.

Thank you so very much for passing out the books in Santee, California. There was so much good advice and I pray a lot of good will come from it. I passed it on to my family. Thank you again. — M.B.
We love the whole concept, and it goes hand-in-hand with our mission which is to inspire girls in the highest ideals of character, conduct and patriotism in order to help them reach their full potential... I only wish it could be distributed to every family in the country.

After having read The Way to Happiness, I've never felt so uplifted. We have provided our children's performing group each with their own copy to study.
To date, we've distributed over 1,500 copies throughout Toledo, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan during our special presentations. Everyone who has received a copy only had the highest praise for its positive message. In a world so wrought with destruction these days, it's a blessing to have such a publication available to help instill strong moral values in our youth today.

Downtrend in crime statistics The crime statistics for major crime in this area have been considerably down for each of the first four months of the year. I know that the distribution of over 16,000 The Way to Happiness booklets has had a lot to do with this. With the tool of The Way to Happiness we are winning and will have a final victory over the degradation that surrounds us.

The Way to Happiness book has had amazing success in helping children and adults to better understand how their own happiness, and the happiness of those around them, depends upon the application of sound principles of conduct. The 21 precepts of The Way to Happiness explain in clear terms what a person needs to do to succeed in life and be genuinely happy... It explains in a clear and very effective way how happiness entirely depends on being trustworthy, industrious, competent and respectful of others.

I want very much to sponsor this program here in New Haven. Initially, this might make a great collaborative effort with other social service agencies. Our programs here not only include an athletic facility, but we also house a Comprehensive Housing Program for women and children, child care, an after-school program, teen connection, rape crisis services, and a special program, transitions for displaced homemakers. We see many clients and I would like to engage them in this campaign. Thank you for this program.

The National Childrens Set A Good Example (SAGE) Student Contestbased on The Way To Happiness booklet, first launched in1981, is a proven moral education program. Used in over 12,600 public, private and parochial schools across the United States more than 12 million students (with parent permission) have used the book to assist in creating drug-free, crime-free-violence-free schools. They in return gained person pride and self-esteem.
The word SAGE is an acronym, a word made by combining the first letters of other words such as: SET A GOOD EXAMPLE. The word according to most good dictionaries is "a person using common sense, wisdom and sound good judgment." Built on only workable principles, every step of the Childrens' "Set A Good Example" Student Contest program has been successfully piloted to ensure results with virtually every young person and child involved. The countless examples of enhanced well-being and individual advancements are the best possible indicators of its effectiveness. Enjoying unprecedented growth, this common sense program has helped parents, teachers, and children throughout the 50 United States. It is unique in the field of moral education as it teaches 21 commonly accepted virtues and values based strictly on common sense. 88% of students involved want to participate again. Every contestant is awarded free membership in the SAGE Club. It is the only program of its kind. The result is "everyone wins."
Commended 16 times in the U.S. Congressional Record for its effectiveness plans are to integrate the SAGE program into every city in the United States through collaborative efforts. Wouldnt you like to help? Call 800-455-0173 for more information.

I have sponsored the "Set a Good Example Contest" since May 1995. The reward for the time, money and effort I have put into it has been the personal satisfaction of forwarding a project that works and produces a definite, definable, positive result.
I've had the good fortune of perceiving many others associated with this program here in Fresno leading happier, more stable lives and then undertaking to assist in improving the quality of life for those around them. This campaign based on The Way to Happiness booklet is a light simple touch with positive yet powerful effects. — L.S., DPM
It was very interesting to see representation of small-town Middle America and that it has the same problems as our big cities. The contest creates an opportunity that, no matter how small an effort, everyone can have an effect on over-coming drugs at the local level. — T.H. - Vice President
I am amazed at the way people have supported us during our first year sponsoring the "Set a Good Example Contest". Everyone I tell about The Way to Happiness book and the "Set a Good Example Contest" has been impressed and supportive. Our future IS our children and I am glad I have been able to help the children in my community with The Way to Happiness. — D.R.
It's a very useful booklet to be distributed to our non-denominational neighbors. Our neighbors commented that, indeed, it shows the "common sense guide to better living."

I did indeed enjoy The Way to Happiness book and intend to use it extensively. I am involved in the Utah County Alternatives Network here and my particular interest is youth rehabilitation and alternative education.
This is a unique culture here, very religious oriented and so we are probably better off on this point than many areas. However, the youth here are very anti-religion and cannot be reached by preaching the local doctrine, so your book I see as a very visible alternative for them. — M.C.
We've had a very good response from the people in our community since distributing The Way to Happiness many people (dozens) have called and asked for more copies to share with friends, some going as far away as Mexico and Guatemala with the books.
At my sister's housing project there were a lot of problems between tenants - disputes, lack of respect and a LOT of crime. I told the building manager about the books, and then she gave them out at the monthly tenants meeting.
She told me that as a result she noticed a significant change in the way they were treating each other it was a very positive change. And the crime rate was going down, too. This was from the book.
We have some children of teenage years and younger in our neighborhood who were having a lot of fights, name calling, picking on each other, causing a lot of animosity it got totally out of hand.
I gave them the books and I saw their whole attitude change they were no longer fighting, instead they started to work together they started a soccer team, and a basketball team, and started being friends again.
These are very definite results I have personally seen, and there are more. Thank you very much for the books, which we are using to improve our community!!

In reviewing The Way to Happiness, I was delighted at the basic, simple truths that it was able to put forth. I could see it being a valuable tool in promoting positive attitudes and views in the lives of our youth. We would distribute these books to youth in our Teen Center.
